Account-Level Displacement Narratives

🥇 #1 — Northrop Grumman Corporation (northropgrumman.com)
Splunk runs at massive scale — intensity 4,744 across 178 locations, fresh verification May 2026. The org also carries ArcSight (intensity 3,901) indicating a complex SIEM portfolio, and LogRhythm (intensity 698). This multi-SIEM sprawl is a classic consolidation signal. The AI trajectory is accelerating (AI maturity score 62.6, rising +5.3 over 6 months), with fully cloud-native depth (AWS 5,131 + Azure 5,053) and autonomous AI signals. No HG-modeled Splunk-specific contracts were found, so no renewal date anchor. The size, complexity, and modernization trajectory make this the most compelling displacement conversation — position around cloud-native SIEM consolidation and AI-powered SecOps. Note: Northrop is a US DoD prime contractor; buyer motions involve GovCloud considerations.

🥈 #2 — Qualys Inc. (qualys.com)
Splunk at high intensity (974), fresh April 2026, running 21 US locations. Qualys also runs LogRhythm (intensity 93 IN), ArcSight (intensity 51 IN), and IBM QRadar (intensity 74 IN) — clear multi-SIEM environment ripe for rationalization. Cloud-native across AWS/Azure/GCP, AI-accelerating trajectory. As a cybersecurity-native company, Qualys is highly security-tooling-aware; the displacement conversation must be technically precise.

🥉 #3 — PGIM Inc. (pgim.com)
Splunk at medium intensity (314) plus Splunk SOAR (59), last verified October 2025 (recent). The AI trajectory is plateauing (−0.78 over 6 months), which may indicate a tools-rationalization window opening as budgets tighten. Cloud-native across AWS, Azure, GCP; genai-interested posture. The financial services regulatory context (data sovereignty, audit trails) is a natural wedge for a cloud-native SIEM pitch. Note: 404 error from intent API — verify intent manually in HG platform before outreach.

#4 — Verisign (verisign.com)
Splunk medium intensity (468), fresh April 2026. Also runs Splunk Security (50) and Check Point, Palo Alto, and Akamai Guardicore. AI trajectory is plateauing (−0.32 over 6 months), "AI-exploring" automation stage — less AI urgency than the top 3. Internet infrastructure industry means high reliability / uptime requirements; position any displacement carefully around zero-downtime migration.

#5 — Tyto Athene (gotyto.com)
Splunk medium intensity (163), fresh May 2026. IT services/defense contractor profile with hybrid cloud posture, Sumo Logic also installed (intensity 35) as a second log management platform — another consolidation signal. AI-accelerating trajectory. Intent API returned 404; verify independently.

#6 — NATIXIS (natixis.com)
Splunk low intensity (108), fresh April 2026. France-headquartered with US operations; buying decisions may route through Paris. AI plateau trajectory, autonomous automation signals. Less compelling on intensity alone, but financial-services regulatory requirements and multi-region Splunk footprint (US + FR) make it a longer-cycle opportunity.

#7 — Stewart Information Services (stewart.com)
Splunk low intensity (64), last verified July 2025 (recent, but approaching the 12-month boundary). Azure-first cloud posture, AI trajectory accelerating (+1.9 over 6 months). Lowest displacement urgency in the cohort but worth monitoring as the AI journey matures.

Disqualified / Gated Accounts

AccountDomainReason
Virginia Housing Development Authorityvirginiahousing.comNo Splunk install found in SIEM/security category scan
Layton Constructionlaytonconstruction.comNo Splunk install found; tech profile is Adobe-heavy creative stack
SnapLogicsnaplogic.comNo Splunk install found in security category; Grafana Loki / Logstash (Log Management) only

Key Caveats

  1. No TrustRadius signals were returned in the 30-day window for any of these accounts against "Splunk" as vendor. This is consistent with the known Phoenix MCP limitation for intent signals — verify manually in the HG platform UI before activating outreach, especially for the top-3 accounts.
  2. No HG-modeled contracts were returned for Splunk across any account. Contract data coverage for security software contracts is typically limited to publicly announced outsourcing relationships; Splunk's direct subscription model may not surface here. Use other renewal intelligence (SFDC hygiene, incumbent field signals) to find contract expiry.
  3. NATIXIS is France-headquartered. The US entity (natixis.com) has a US Splunk install, but commercial authority may rest in Paris — qualify carefully.
  4. Northrop Grumman operates under FedRAMP / DoD IL constraints. Any Splunk replacement product must meet those compliance thresholds; this should be the first qualification question.
  5. HG's "Splunk" product (ID 4938) maps to the full Splunk platform. It cannot be confirmed at the product-SKU level (Enterprise vs. Cloud vs. SOAR) from HG data alone — use discovery conversations to confirm deployment type.

Overview

Find the accounts running your competitor where the data suggests displacement readiness. Marketing Ops feeds the competitor product name plus their category; the workflow combines technographic intensity (the incumbent install confirmation), intent (vendor-comparison activity), contracts (renewal proximity), and modernization signals to surface a ranked displacement target list. Every assertion respects the displacement-requires-install rule.

Use cases

  • Competitor displacement targets your AEs can actually pursue

Marketing Ops feeds the competitor product name plus its category. The workflow surfaces accounts that run the competitor at verified install intensity AND show one or more displacement-ready signals: TrustRadius vendor-comparison activity, contract within 122 days of expiry, modernization wave in the relevant axis. Bidstream-only signals never trip a displacement claim. The output reads like analysis, not a wishlist.

# Competitive Displacement Targets

## Parameters

- `{{competitor}}` *(required)* — The competitor product name (must match HG canonical taxonomy). Example: `Splunk Enterprise`
- `{{category}}` *(required)* — The category the competitor lives in. Example: `Log Management`
- `{{geo}}` *(optional)* — Geo filter. Example: `United States`
- `{{cohort_size}}` *(optional)* — How many displacement targets to surface. Example: `50`

## Purpose
Surface up to {{cohort_size}} accounts that run {{competitor}} in {{category}} and show displacement-ready signals, filtered to {{geo}} when present. Every displacement claim is cross-referenced with an install confirmation per the intent calibration discipline.

## Process
1. **Find the incumbent cohort.** `search_companies` (identity only: `companyId`, `companyName`, `domain`) filtered to {{competitor}} as a technographic install, scoped to {{geo}}. Pull {{cohort_size}} times two candidates to allow filtering. `company_technographic` per candidate to confirm install intensity is above the noise floor (the displacement-requires-install rule). Call `company_firmographic` on each confirmed account (by `companyId`/`domain`) for the Industry / Revenue / Employees columns — these are not in the `search_companies` result.
2. **Score intent signals.** `company_intent` per account in the cohort: TrustRadius topics naming {{competitor}}-comparison content (high signal), bidstream against the {{category}} space (directional only). Source-class noted per the intent calibration skill.
3. **Score contracts.** `company_contracts` per account: any {{competitor}} contract approaching expiry within 122 days OR within 365 days. Renewal proximity is a structural signal independent of intent.
4. **Score modernization.** `company_operating_signals` for the relevant axis (cloud posture for observability, AI maturity for analytics tooling, etc.). Accounts mid-modernization are more displacement-ready.
5. **Rank.** Composite = install_confirmed (gate) × (TR_intent + contract_proximity + modernization). Cap bidstream at +1 across the composite. Sort descending; cut at {{cohort_size}}.

## Output Format
- Methodology one-liner (the gate + the composite formula + the date)
- Ranked target table: company, domain, industry/revenue/employees (from `company_firmographic`), install intensity, TR intent topic + recency, contract proximity, modernization signal, composite score
- "Disqualified" sample: accounts that looked promising but failed the install-confirmation gate (with reason)

## Quality Checklist
- The install confirmation gate is enforced; bidstream-only displacement is not surfaced
- TR intent is cited with topic + recency; bidstream is cited as directional only
- {{competitor}} matches the canonical HG taxonomy name; fuzzy matches are flagged
- "Disqualified" sample shows the discipline working
